About Roberto Leyva
Roberto Leyva was born and raised in Mexico. His passion for all things culinary began in the mid 1970's, when he met Julia Escalante De Donde, who bestowed on him her extensive experience in Euro-cuisine. Primed with his understanding of French, Spanish and Italian cuisine Roberto's development continued under Chef Joseph Marie at the famous "Prendes" restaurant, a landmark in Mexico City since 1810. Several years later he moved to Southern California, where he became fascinated with the fusion movement.
Roberto has spent many years traveling and developing his skills in Asia, the Pacific Rim and South America. He was the Executive Chef for Fins Inc. restaurants for over 20 years and his recent projects with Moz Budha Lounge and Zin Bistro Americana were a huge success.
